Our mandate is to regulate the energy sector in Malawi in a fair, transparent, efficient and cost effective manner for the benefit of the consumers and operators. An Update on Landing Costs For Diesel, Petrol and Paraffin as at 19th August 2016

The average Free On Board (FOB) Prices for Petrol, Diesel and Paraffin for the month of August 2016 compared to FOB which were applied when prices were last revised in June, 2016 and the expected Landing Costs of Petrol, Diesel and Paraffin in September 2016 compared to the Landing Costs noted in June 2016 when the prices were last revised.

Update on Trends in Economic Fundamentals and Their Impact on Electricity Tariffs under ATAF as at 18th August 2016

MERA granted an implicit tariff increase to ESCOM on May 3, 2016 based on the automatic tariff adjustment formula (ATAF) by deferring the tariff reduction of 6.71%. At that time, the exchange rate and inflation were at MK693.50/US$ and 22.1%, respectively. As at 18th August 2016, these fundamentals were at MK729.625/US$ and 22.6%, respectively. These changes resulted into ATAF outcome as below:-
